Our History

Founded in 2009, Standback General Contractors (SBGC) was formed by two brothers with a strong focus on building for the future. With their first commercial project being awarded in 2011, the team, client roster, and project size has continued to grow.

Currently, with affiliate Amend Business Group, SBGC is located in Orange County, NY.

Our mission is to embrace all opportunities and bring them to reality, while remaining a forward-thinking company that is values driven with a goal of building the future in our community.

Since its inception, Standback has serviced various projects across the Greater Hudson Valley and beyond. These projects include services ranging from general contracting to construction management, and more. Regardless of the project, we take pride in our work and the values we share with our clients. With over 40 years of combined construction management experience, we approach every project as a forward-thinking team that is accountable and ethical.

Jeffrey T. Whritner. JT for short, is a recent graduate from Coker College in South Carolina with a degree in Business. He is a community advocate and volunteer supporting groups like Newburgh Lions Club. His personal hobbies are sports and trying new places to grab good food.

Forever Foundation

For years, Standback GC has made a conscious effort to do great things within the communities of Orange County, hoping to create a legacy that would serve its mission of supporting local nonprofit organizations and educational programs for years to come. In partnership with The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, Tom, Jim, and Joe are proud to create the Forever Foundation. This fund will distribute grants each year to various nonprofit organizations focusing on children with disabilities, animal welfare, cancer research and scholarships.
